Saghro is a wild mountain range which cannot be forgotten by its visitors. It is an astonishing region.
Charles de Foucauld who partly explored it reported that this range "is composed of a high plateau with an average altitude of 2000m where one arrives after a long walk over rocky slopes, linked by very narrow flagstones. The higher plateau has a vast, flat and green surface with cliffs and peaks which testify to the region's volcanic origin."
The link between the High Atlas and the Anti Atlas, it is the summit of a vast, collapsed volcano with impressive black lava flows.
Its summit culminates at 3305 meters .
It is a country of treks, through fantastic landscapes where a limpid, deserted and arid world contrasts with deep, shaded valleys.
The trek goes through beautiful villages as well as high plateaux where AÏT OUAOUZGUITES nomads live when the snows melt. It's an area known for its production of saffron and carpet weaving.
